TB-500 is a synthetic fragment of thymosin beta-4, an intracellular protein that binds monomeric actin. Laboratories treat them as separate assays. Janoshik Analytical, the Prague laboratory whose reports many European suppliers publish, lists a BPC-157 analysis and a separate TB4 / TB-500 / TB4(17-23) analysis. That second page gives full thymosin beta-4 at 4963 Da and the fragment at 889 Da, sequence N-Acetyl-Leu-Lys-Lys-Thr-Glu-Thr-Gln, and states that the report says whether the entire 43 amino acid chain was present or only a fragment.

Almost all of it is animal and cell work. A 2011 study in the Journal of Applied Physiology described BPC-157 as a 15 amino acid partial sequence of a compound isolated from human gastric juice, and tested it on rat Achilles tendon explants and cultured tendon fibroblasts, reporting increased outgrowth, survival under oxidative stress and in vitro migration. A 2006 paper in the Journal of Orthopaedic Research reported the sequence GEPPPGKPADDAGLV and studied transected rat quadriceps muscle over 72 days; a 2010 paper studied transected rat medial collateral ligament over 90 days. Thymosin beta-4 was studied first as a cell biology molecule, then as a repair candidate. The most cited paper is a 2004 report in Nature: the G-actin sequestering peptide promoted myocardial and endothelial cell migration in the embryonic mouse heart, enhanced cardiomyocyte survival in culture, and improved cardiac function after coronary artery ligation in mice. A 2012 review in the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences described it as a neuroprotective candidate in experimental rat traumatic brain injury, citing angiogenesis, neurogenesis and cell migration. That literature concerns the full 43 amino acid protein, not the seven amino acid fragment sold as TB-500.
They are grouped because their preclinical literatures overlap on connective tissue and vascular repair themes, so vendors market them as a recovery pairing. Nothing published establishes that the combination behaves differently from either alone, and there is no controlled human trial of the pair. Two practical points follow. A blend vial holds a fixed ratio set by the manufacturer, so one component cannot be varied independently. No. Neither holds a marketing authorisation as a medicine in the EU, and both are supplied as research chemicals. The Austrian medicines agency BASG published an official notice on 27 May 2026 stating that many peptides offered online are classified as medicines without the corresponding authorisation, that placing them on the market in Austria and importing them into Austria is prohibited, and that unauthorised medicines are subject to no control of origin, manufacturer or quality standards. On the 2026 WADA Prohibited List, section S0 covers substances "including but not limited to BPC-157", and section S2.3 lists "Thymosin-Beta4 and its derivatives e.g. TB-500". Both are prohibited at all times.

In laboratory practice a 5 mg or 10 mg lyophilised vial is typically reconstituted with roughly 1 to 3 ml of bacteriostatic water, chosen so the stock is convenient to measure. More water does not weaken the peptide, it changes the concentration. Janoshik reports carry a task number and a unique key, entered into a form on the laboratory's own site, so a report is checked against the laboratory database rather than a PDF supplied by the seller. Published research does not answer that, because no study has compared them head to head in one model with the same endpoints. The two literatures use different species, different injuries and different measurements, so any ranking would be an opinion rather than a finding.
